We know that many of you listening to our show are either going through a painful breakup period or are still trying to find yourselves in the aftermath.

For most people, going through a breakup from a long-term relationship can be on of the hardest and most painful experiences of their lives. Oftentimes, there is a sense of loneliness, anxiety and despair, which is probably harder to deal with the older you get. So, since we’re a love & relationship’s radio show, we thought for this episode we’d lighten the mood and talk about the top things to do after a breakup up to help you get back to being you and to be able to finally move on from all the trauma and heartache.

Our Top Six Breakup Cures

Hang out with your friends

This has gotta be one of the best breakup cures out there. Good friends are always there for you and will pick you up when you’re down and lost. It can be so easy to just sit at home by yourself moping during and after a breakup, but this is actually one of the worst things you can do. Meeting up with good friends will often help to cheer you up and take your mind off things.

Catch up with family

When we’re in a relationship life can often go by so fast that we forget or just don’t have the time to stay in touch with some family members as much as we’d like. However, for most people, your family are always gonna be there for you. Taking the time to catch up with them and see how they’re doing will often do wonders for your self-esteem.

Do voluntary work

Doing voluntary work is a great way to take your mind off your own problems and feel valued again by helping others. Volunteering for a charity can help to boost your self-esteem and often it can make us realize that our problems are not as big as some other people out there.

Here are some great options for volunteering.

Go shopping

A bit of retail therapy often puts the world to rights if you can afford it. If finds are a little tight then perhaps go out to get a few small things that will make you feel good.

Have a pamper day

Pamper days have always been my go-to methods for breakup recovery. One of the best things I find to do is to go visit the local spa for the day or even a weekend with a few of your girlfriends. Having a relaxing massage can help to soothe your worries and getting your hair and nails done can also help to refresh your self-confidence.

Here are 2018’s top ten Spa places to visit, according to townandcountrymag.com

Do something adventurous

Often, during a long-term relationship, we fall into a routine of always doing the same old thing. However, after a breakup, it is important to break out of the norm and do something you Wouldnt normally do. Bungee jumping, white water rafting or even skydiving can be great activities to show you that life is really worth living, with or without your ex.

Hopefully, this list will give you some good ideas to help you move past this phase and get your life back on track with a positive and fresh new perspective. Who knows, you may even meet the next Mr or Mrs Right at the same time!
